Meetings
Club members meet every Thursday from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Woodcraft store for open, group and mentoring
carving. Thursday carving meetings are a great way for beginners to get started. Many of our experienced
carvers mentors both novice and experienced carvers alike. All are invited to enjoy the carving fun.
Thursday Workshop/Programs are held on the first Thursday of each month with club business being
addressed from 6:00- 6:30. Projects start at 6:30. It’s highly recommended that you attend the Thursday
workshop/program if you are planning on signing up for a Saturday workshop. Most Thursday
workshop/programs will coincide with the monthly Saturday workshop, offering members a jump start on their
project. During most Thursday workshops, members will receive a free carving blank.
Saturday Workshops are held on the third Saturday of each month from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at Woodcraft.
There is usually a minimal cost associated with the workshop. Workshops are usually provided by club
members who give step by step instructions. Projects vary each month. Register first please before showing
up. Limited space in some workshops.
Inclement weather policy:
If Henrico County schools are closed or delayed, there will be no James River Wood Carver activities held.
Thursday carving will resume the following week, weather permitting. If a Thursday night meeting is canceled,
any scheduled business will be discussed at the next month's meeting and any planned projects will be
rescheduled. If we miss a Saturday workshop, we will try and schedule a makeup. The safety and well being
of our club members comes first and those that survive bad weather live to carve another day.
